HEALTH & SAFETY POLICIES

Health and Safety are the strongest commitments of A&D Environmental Services, Inc. for providing a safe and healthy work environment for all  associates, subcontractors, clients and communities we serve; one that is free from hazards to worker health and safety.  Health and Safety is an integral part of the A&D Environmental culture and way of doing business.  Prevention of occupational illness and accidents and the promotion of a safe workplace are a high priority in all phases of business activities.

A&D Environmental Services, Inc. believes it is a fundamental precept of safety that accidents and illnesses can be prevented; it is both a moral obligation and a sound business practice to identify and eliminate the causes of workplace incidents. However, the absence of accidents and illnesses does not define a safe workplace.  Management must support and workers must follow proactive practices in the workplace, which contribute to a safe work environment.

Safety, health promotion, industrial hygiene, and loss prevention are the key elements of A&D Environmental Services, Inc. health and safety program. Support of this program is the direct responsibility of management and is an important measure of managerial performance.

Safe conduct is a condition of employment at A&D Environmental Services, Inc.  Employees at all levels of A&D Environmental Services, Inc. and in all phases of the business recognize that they have the personal responsibility to conscientiously follow healthy and safe work practices and to notify supervisors of potential or existing hazards. Disregard for safety rules is a serious infraction which will result in disciplinary action.

Regulatory Compliance

Work on all sites, especially hazardous waste sites, is conducted in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.  Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) regulations for hazardous waste site operations, the construction industry, and general industry are followed.  Also, technical documents such as the Bureau of Reclamation's "Construction Safety Standards," The US Army Corps of Engineer's "Safety and Health Requirements Manual" and the NIOSH/OSHA/USCG/EPA "Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual For Hazardous Waste Site Activities" are used as appropriate background documents.

Personnel Responsibilities

On all sites, implementation of the health and safety program is accomplished through a designated chain of command and clearly communicated responsibilities.  All site workers are accountable for their own personal safety and contribute to the safety of their co-workers and the site.  Both our project management staff and field technicians strive for a target goal of ZERO incidents on each and every project.

We continually evaluate our environmental, health and safety programs to monitor our projects to discover ways for improving our performance.
Company-wide commitment to these Health & Safety objectives has earned A&D Environmental an Experience Modification Rating (EMR) of 0.77, one of the strongest ratings in the environmental services industry.  This is a proud recognition we strive to maintain each day on each project.
